The third leading track from the Eternal Sunshine album, “don’t wanna break up again,” delves into the complexities of relationships, exploring the emotional cycle that couples often find themselves in. It paints a vivid image of the repetitive patterns that can lead to conflicts, capturing the raw feelings of love, frustration, and the desire to break free from the relentless cycle of fighting. Through captivating lyrics and a provocative melody, this track invites listeners to reflect on their own experiences in relationships, making it a relatable anthem for anyone who has faced the ups and downs of love.

At the very beginning of "don't wanna breakup again," the song starts with a muffled version of the chorus. The background music is gradually increasing as if it were imitating your crying being obscured by the TV noise. “I fall asleep crying; you turn up the TV. You don't wanna hear me. One more sleepless night, big day in the morning, so I take my time to self-soothe.” This was the silent pain you used to endure behind closed doors. You ended up not sleeping properly (due to the fight), knowing you had important things to do the following day and pretending everything was fine, so you would take care of yourself in the middle of the night or very early in the morning because you knew your partner would not do so.

“I'm too much for you, so I really gotta do the thing I don't wanna do; no, I don't, don't, don't, don't.” There’s only one thing you can do at this point, but you know it will cause both of you terrible pain.“I don't wanna fuck with your head. It's breaking my heart to keep breaking yours again.” Playing mind games broke your heart. You are loyal and kind-hearted, but playing twisted games to win your partner back messed you up. It breaks your heart knowing you’ve hurt them. “This situationship has to end, but I just can't refuse; I don't wanna break up again (break up again, break up again).” Breaking up is the only solution at this point. It breaks your heart to leave this person and you feel sorry for hurting them, but you know that this situation must come to an end for the good of both of you.

“I made it so easy, spent so much on therapy, with my own co-dependency.” You made it seem unaffected, spending an absurd amount of money on therapy while realizing you were dealing with everything on your own. “But you didn't even try. When you finally did, it was at the wrong time. Won't abandon me again for you and I.” Despite everything that happened, this person couldn't have cared less about your struggles. By the time they finally realized the damage they had caused, it was too late. Now that you are starting to feel like yourself again, you don’t want to jeopardize that for a relationship that felt one-sided. You're just getting color back in your face; you don't want to lose it again.

“We both know this time, so we say goodbye. Just one kiss goodbye, with tears in our eyes.” After the never-ending cycle of fighting, wanting to call things off, and fading away, you both know it's time to part ways. Although it hurts like hell, you know that's what you have to do. “Hope you won't, won't regret me. Hope you still think fondly of our little life.” Although things didn't turn out the way you wanted, you don't regret a thing and hope they feel the same way. You built a little life together, a chapter that eventually came to an end due to its challenges. Nevertheless, remember the positive aspects that emerged; it was ultimately for the best for both of you.
